Besides the common squirrel, I see opossums every once in a while. Sometimes I see them climbing along the fence. Sometimes they wander into my backyard, where my dogs are, where my husky goes mad and tries to grab it. Usually, she barks at it like she doesn’t know what to do. When that happens, it gives me the chance to get to the ‘possum and bring it to safety (if I can somehow trap it in a bucket and take past the fence). Sadly though, I’ve found dead opossums before – victims of my husky. But now, as soon as I catch the dogs acting weird, I’ve learned to jump into action and check it out before they do any damage!
